In an interview with Grimsby Live, Sam said: “I was walking outside, I was about to return home when I met the dog.
“I love dogs, I always confuse or pet them when I meet them.
“I asked if the dog was friendly, the owner told me they were, so I bent down to pet him.
“At that moment the dog left me, nothing like this has ever happened to me.
“At first I just thought the dog hit me on the head, only when I got home I washed my face and realized what had happened. It was quite shocking. “

Sam said he did not want to see the dog attack him, but wanted the owner to learn to put a muzzle on him.
He explained. “I hate to see dogs put to sleep, I love dogs. I just want people to be more careful telling people if their dog is not safe.
“If it was a small child, there could be much more damage. it was obviously not safe. “
After the incident, Sam went to the hospital to be examined, and he was told that he needed major surgery to repair his injuries.
He said. “They removed the layer of my skin from the line of my hair and attached it to the bridge of my nose.
“Then they twisted my nose to help the skin reach it. I have done 16 stitches on my face և I am now waiting for it to start healing. I was told it could take 18 months for me to feel better. back in my head և I may never.
“I do not go out much at the moment because it hurts me to walk in the wind.
“In about three weeks I had another operation to try to look normal again. To be honest, I would like to go back in time. I’m bored of not being at work, I’m really a lot. hoping I can emphasize to others that they need to make sure dogs are safe before people pet them. ”
