Speaking with KTLA before the Oscars, NTR Jr said, “I was looking forward to it happening. But, sadly, we didn’t have time to practise. Because we don’t want to go on to the large stage in the world and go unready. So, we were busy, I was busy, and maybe Charan was busy with many prior commitments back home.”


Naatu Naatu’ sent the listener into a frenzy when it sports in the cinema halls, not just in India but in international theatres. Many spin to the song in the aisles. The music got over 124 million views on YouTube and became a viral social media sensation. The song won large at the 80th Golden Globe Awards as MM Keeravaani congregate up the Best Original Song trophy.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone institute the song with style, describing it as an irresistibly catchy chorus with electrifying beats and killer dance moves. American actor-dancer and Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa season 6 runner-up Lauren Gottlieb also joined other foreign dancers in shaking a leg during the live performance, which earned a rank ovation from the audience.
Deepika Padukone presented the performance, explaining how “Naatu Naatu” soundtracks RRR’s anti-colonialist spirit and is also, quite simply, a banger as a large group of dancers joined such, Sipligunj and Bhairava for the spirited performance, with the artists donning both Western suits and traditional Indian apparel. “Naatu Naatu” is the first Indian-language song to be nominated for an Academy Award. It joins Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand,” Rihanna’s “Lift Me,” and Stephanie Hsu, David Byrne, and Son Lux’s “This Is a Life” in the category. All of the nominees performed their songs at this year’s awards.

The highly anticipated awards ceremony finally occurred on March 12 at Dolby auditorium in Los Angeles. Fans had eagerly awaited the Naatu Naatu act at the Oscars 2023 since the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) reported that singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava would be performing live. On Monday, they set the stage on fire and wowed the who’s who of Hollywood by singing the much-loved song.
While the Telugu-language action epic couldn’t reach the final list, its song Naatu Naatu became the sole nomination. It competes against Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Mitski, David Byrne, and Diane Warren.
Some other nominees also took to the stage to perform their songs. Singer Rihanna sang Lift Me from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while Sofia Carson and Diane Warren won hearts with Applause from Tell It Like a Woman. Son Lux and Stephanie Hsu performed Everything Everywhere All at Once’s This Is a Life. Meanwhile, Lenny Kravitz sang during the In Memoriam segment.
