Technology unicorn Matillion has announced the opening of its first office in Spain.
The Greater Manchester-headquartered cloud data company said the Madrid base will help it expand its “engineering talent network”.
The city centre office is to hold its inaugural group of Madrid-based engineers which “will contribute to product innovation on our award-winning solution, helping our customers make their data useful across the business”.
Chief engineering officer Naggi Asmar said: “Madrid is a hub for enterprise technology companies and engineering talent, which is the right environment for us to find great team members looking to work for a high-growth company.
“At Matillion, we value different perspectives and we are excited to strengthen our team with brilliant engineers in a new city.”
BusinessLive reported in September 2021 that Matillion had raised $150m in a funding round led by a US investment giant with stakes in the likes of Gymshark, BuzzFeed and Squarespace.
The company secured the Series E funding from General Atlantic with participation from Battery Ventures, Sapphire Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Matillion also has offices in New York, Denver and Seattle and works with the likes of Tui, Travis Perkins, Ikea, Amazon and Siemens.
