Bayern Munich conceded a stoppage-time equaliser scored by the VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy from the penalty spot, as the champions endured a third consecutive Bundesliga draw.
The game started well for Bayern, with Mathys Tel scoring their opener in the 36th minute. The France youth international Tel, who at the age of 17 years and 136 days became the youngest player to start a league game for Bayern, had already scored in the German Cup first round. He scored his first league goal by drilling in a low drive from an Alphonso Davies cutback.
Stuttgart hit back when Chris Führich equalised from close range in the 57th but three minutes later Bayern were back in front thanks to another teenager. Jamal Musiala, the 19-year-old former youngest league scorer for Bayern, shook off his marker with a quick change of direction and floated a superb ball into the back of the net.
The visitors earned a stoppage-time penalty when Matthijs de Ligt fouled Guirassy. The Guinea international kept his composure to beat Neuer and rescue a point for the visitors.
Bayern did go top of the table on goal difference with 12 points, as a result of others slipping up or playing on Sunday. Borussia Dortmund would have moved into first place with a draw but lost 3-0 at RB Leipzig, with goals from Willi Orban, Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara sealing a morale-boosting victory and a winning debut for their new coach, Marco Rose.
Rose replaced Domenico Tedesco this week after a bad start to the league season and a 4-1 loss at home to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. He did not have to wait long for a goal with Orban heading in a corner in the sixth minute.
Szoboszlai drilled in their second goal with a 25-yard missile into the top corner on the stroke of half-time. There was far too little from the visitors with Dortmund not managing a single shot on target. Leipzig scored again through Haidara in the 84th minute after some more sloppy Dortmund defending.
Four second-half goals steered Barcelona to a routine 4-0 victory at Cádiz as they moved top of La Liga overnnight. Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski put them in front before a lengthy stop in play due to a fan being taken ill. After the players returned for the final 10 minutes, Lewandowski teed up Ansu Fati for the third before Ousmane Dembélé rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.
Atlético Madrid clinically brushed aside Celta Vigo 4-1 at the Metropolitano. Strikes from Ángel Correa, Rodrigo de Paul, Yannick Carrasco and an Unai Núñez own goal completed the win for Diego Simeone’s side, who moved up to fourth.
In Italy, a penalty by Olivier Giroud gave 10-man Milan a deserved 2-1 win at Sampdoria in Serie A, sealing their first away victory of the season. Unbeaten Milan moved up to second place and level with the leaders, Napoli, on 14 points from six games.
They opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Rafael Leão brilliantly set up Junior Messias in the box and the Brazilian put the champions in front with a low shot. After the break Milan lost Leão to a second yellow card for a scissor-kick which connected with the head of defender Alex Ferrari.
Sampdoria’s Serbia midfielder Filip Djuricic headed home a neat lofted pass from Tommaso Augello in the 57th minute. But 10 minutes later Milan regained the lead with Giroud’s spot kick after home midfielder Gonzalo Villar had handled. Sampdoria remain in the relegation zone with two points.
Giacomo Raspadori scored his first goal for Napoli in the 89th minute of a 1-0 victory over Spezia at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona .
A late goal from Marcelo Brozovic gave Internazionale a 1-0 win at home to Torino but they also had to thank goalkeeper Samir Handanovic who made several fine saves.
Neymar scored his eighth Ligue 1 goal of the campaign as Paris Saint-Germain overcame Brest 1-0 to extend their unbeaten start and reclaim top spot in the standings.
Marseille kept a grip on second place, also on 19 points, when goals by Alexis Sánchez and Samuel Gigot earned a 2-1 home win over Lille, after Ismaily had given the visitors the lead.
