Spotify has partnered with online meditation platform Headspace to bundle mindfulness with music in one subscription.
The agreement means membership of both services costs €14.99 (£13.37), rather than the standalone price of €9.99 each. Existing Spotify users can upgrade and use a single login to access both Spotify Premium and Headspace, with the tie-up available now in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The Netherlands and the UK will follow “in the coming weeks”, Spotify said.

Headspace, which describes itself as a “gym membership for the mind”, has around ten million members who make use of its online meditation and mindfulness sessions and training. Lessons are available both on a mobile app and on the Headspace website.
Founder Andy Puddicombe said the tie-up was a good fit with Spotify already curating playlists focussed on “calm, sleep, study and exercise”. Founded in London in 2010, LA-based Headspace now employs more than 50 people.
Spotify’s deal with the mindfulness app is its first joint subscription tie-up, having previously worked on marketing deals with the likes of Nike, Tinder and Uber.
While the partnership combines subscriptions for the services, both apps will remain separate: no Headspace sessions will appear on Spotify and no music from Spotify will be accessible through Headspace’s app.
