Following her graduation, Belen joined a music group band. She had always loved singing since her childhood days. Due to the band’s regular tours, she spent much of her young life away from home on tour. When she could no longer put up with the many travels, she decided to leave the band in 2006, fully convinced and aware of the fact that star life wasn’t for her. De Leon then returned to South Texas and began working on TV.
De Leon began her media career working briefly as the host, producer, and writer for a variety of television show in McAllen, Texas. She made a dramatic career change in August 2007 when she accepted the position as a weather forecaster for the local Univision and Fox affiliates.
During her four years on the air in South Texas, Belen led weather coverage in English and Spanish through hurricanes, tornadoes, and freezes. She started as host of a variety show, then transitioned to radio and news at KNVO-TV in South Texas from 2007 to 2011. In 2012, she moved to Denver’s NBC station, KUSA-TV as a meteorologist – then to NBC4 in Los Angeles where she has been working until the present.
