A woman in her 20s has died after being struck by a car and a van.
Essex Police said officers were called to the incident in Buckhurst Way, Buckhurst Hill, at 19:55 BST on Tuesday.
The female pedestrian was treated by paramedics at the scene but died a short time later.
Police said the driver of the Ford Transit van, a 28-year-old man from Harlow, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and was being held in custody, the force said.
