C

No matter the time of year, Cornwall is one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations. With over 300 beaches and plenty of sights to see, the rich history and array of activities are something that just cannot be missed.

There’s something for everyone on the Cornish coast, but what’s the best way to visit?

In order to make the most out of your staycation, we’ve narrowed down the perfect place to stay to either a caravan or lodge, where you can experience budget-friendly luxury, with the option to self-cater, eat out, spend quality time with your family, and have the freedom to explore.

So, with plenty of holidays in Cornwall with Away Resorts to choose from, is it best to see the sights by staying in a lodge or a caravan?

Read on to find out.

Sightseeing

There’s so much to see in Cornwall that it can be hard to know where to start. The best place to begin is with the location of your accommodation.

Caravan:When staying in a static caravan, you might find you have some decking that offers you a great place to sit outside if the sun is shining. But generally, you’ll be on a pitch that’s surrounded by other caravans. And whilst you’ll still feel like you have a private space, the other caravans may block any sort of view of the sea or landscape.

Lodge:If you opt to stay in a lodge, you’ll probably find bigger windows and doors leading out to the surrounding grass or patio. Depending on the location, this means you’re more likely to be able to see the views surrounding your chosen location.

The winner: If you’re hoping to see some views from the comfort of your holiday home, then a lodge might be your best bet. However, if you’re more prone to adventure and are simply looking for a place to rest, it really doesn’t matter – as you’ll be able to access the park and surrounding Cornish coast just as easily either way.

Self-catering

Depending on your budget, you might want to prepare your own meals and snacks. Luckily for you, you can easily do this in both a caravan and a lodge.

Caravan:Most static caravans come with full sized hobs, plenty of kitchen space and a dining table, so if you’re looking to cook your own meals, you’ll have plenty of room to do so.

Lodge:A lodge will also come with full-sized kitchen appliances and space to enjoy your meal as a family.

The winner: Clearly, it’s going to have to be a draw when it comes to self-catering. And, both lodges and caravans will have easy access to the many restaurants available at the holiday park.

Size and luxury

Depending on the size of your holiday party, as well as what you intend to do during your visit to Cornwall, you might want to consider which option is the most spacious and luxurious.

Caravan:Caravans can come in a variety of sizes, sleeping a number of people based on your requirements. You can also add certain things like central heating and other extras, to add to the already luxurious feel to your modern-designed caravan.

Lodge:Despite caravans coming in different sizes, if you’re looking for a bit more space, a lodge will be a better choice. Naturally, a lodge might feel a bit more luxurious as the slightly sturdier structure and more spacious design leads to more room for potential extras like a hot tub, for example.

The winner: For size and luxury, lodges take the win.

Budget-friendly

A perk of holidaying in the UK is that you can save money on flights and travel. The beauty of caravan and lodge holidays, is that you can pick the size and location that best caters to your budget.

Caravan:A caravan is probably the most budget-friendly option, as you can pick the size and design that sleeps the number of people you are travelling with. And, as we’ve already discovered, a lodge is the slightly more luxurious option.

Lodge:Whilst lodges can still cater to a variety of budgets, in comparison to static caravans, they can be a little more expensive to stay in. Despite this, it’s always worth weighing up the length of your stay and what you are hoping to get out of your holiday accommodation.

The winner: The winner for most budget-friendly staycation has to go to static caravans, although holiday parks in general often offer great value for money as you can spend as much or as little as you’d like on-site, whilst still having the option to enjoy many of the amenities.

The best way to stay

So, which is the best way to stay?

Both lodges and caravans are pet-friendly, with full-sized kitchen appliances and plenty of space to spend time with your family. And, you’ll have access to the amenities on the site, with pools, activities, restaurants and entertainment right on your doorstep – all before you even venture out and explore Cornwall itself. All it really comes down to is whether you want the views, what extras take your fancy, and your budget.
