Laila Morse was determined to carry out her Strictly the Real Full Monty duties, despite being injured and so took her kit off in a wheelchair.

The actress, 76, who played Big Mo Harris in EastEnders, revealed she had sprained her ankle before going on the ITV show – but she wasn’t going to let that stop her.

Speaking to The Sun she said: “I couldn’t really stand on it, so Ashley said I couldn’t take part.

“I said ‘But that’s what I’ve come to do. I’ll find some way to get on that stage’. So they came up with the idea of a wheelchair and decorated it with sparkly stuff. So I went on stage, I just couldn’t dance.

“When it came to the strip I sat there in my outfit with my feathers in the wheelchair and took my top off!”

The show, which is choreographed by Diversity founder Ashley Banjo raises awareness for cancer and was held at the Blackpool theatre.

Laila said the audience were in great sprits and that she cried after the performance because she was so pleased she’d done it.

She added that she takes her clothes off when she’s on holiday so she’s “not bothered about showing anything off”.

Laila was joined on stage by former Strictly Come Dancing professionals James and Ola Jordan, Blue’s Duncan James and Paddy McGuinness’ wife Christine.

Love Islanders Demi Jones and Teddy Soares, Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards and Coleen Nolan, property show host Martin Roberts and Welsh Olympian Colin Jackson completed the line-up.
