The couple welcomed their one-year-old daughter, Khai, in September 2020 after five years of on-again, off-again dating.
The model was seen leaving a photoshoot in New York City with her sister Bella Hadid, marking the first time she’s been spotted since the break-up.
Photographers captured the Victoria’s Secret runway model donning a black beanie, red Versace jumpsuit and black boots.
Her younger sister wore a faux fur hat, blazer, pink shirt, baggy trousers and animal print loafers.
The former couple reportedly had a “super toxic relationship” before they decided to split for good.
The final straw came after the One Direction alum allegedly “hit” her mother, leading to him being charged with four counts of “harassment.”
He was “charged with four criminal offenses of harassment” and pleaded no contest.
An insider claimed to The Sun that the supermodel has felt stuck between the drama between her mother and her baby daddy.
Zayn allegedly “called Yolanda a fking Dutch st,” and ordered her to “stay away from [my] f**king daughter.”
The pop superstar yelled “the fking sperm that came out of [my] fking c**k”, according to the court papers obtained by The Sun.
Zayn allegedly “shoved” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star “into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain.”
The singer though has denied any sort of physical contact.
A source told People of Zayn and the Bravo star’s difficult relationship: ”Yolanda is, of course, very protective of Gigi.
“She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild. She has had some issues with Zayn.
“He has a complicated personality, and she thinks he could treat Gigi better. It’s been hard at times for Gigi to live with him.”
CUSTODY BATTLE
The former couple’s daughter is now the center of their conflict as a source told People that they’ve been “fighting over Khai.”
Despite their alleged toxic partnership, another source told the outlet that Gigi wants to do whatever she can to properly co-parent their child.
A source told the outlet: ”Yolanda is very upset with Zayn, but Gigi has made it clear that her daughter needs her dad.
”Gigi will do everything she can to make sure they co-parent in a civil way.”
Another insider denied that Zayn and Gigi are battling over Khai and are instead working “actively and amicably… to find the best way to co-parent now.”
Despite reportedly wanting to co-parent, the Vogue cover star allegedly wants to make sure everything is settled legally, so there are no issues.
“Gigi met with her lawyers last week,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “She also met with new lawyers to start helping with custody issues. There will be conversations about custody.”
The insider added that he “will always have to be a part of her life,” which is why she found his alleged fight with her mom “distressing.”
FAMILY’S PLEA
Amid the custody battle, Zayn’s family is desparate for the Pillowtalk singer to return home to the UK to be with them.
An insider revealed: “Zayn is having a hard time right now and his family just want him to return home to Bradford.
“For Zayn’s mom, she is having to watch her son struggle thousands of miles away and it is really difficult for her.
“A mother’s instinct is to protect her child and that is all she wants for Zayn.
“They are hopeful he will be able to come home at some point so they can spend time with him.”
Since the dispute with Gigi’s mother, the father-of-one has been ordered to complete an anger management course and domestic violence program.
Although he has vehemently denied that the physcial altercation took place, The Sun revealed that Zayn had been dropped by his American record label.
