A procession of giant, transparent bubbles has appeared on a lake in Lancashire as part of an art project.
Fairhaven Bubbles is part of a cultural festival being held across the Fylde to coincide with the Open Golf Championship in Lytham next week.
Visitors can see the bubbles begin to appear below the surface and become bigger further out on Fairhaven Lake.
The artist Steve Messam said it had been a fun commission in which he had been given a free hand.
“The work I do is all site-specific, so it’s all about the actual location and how it works with the colours and the light,” he said.
The bubbles, made from welded PVC, are anchored with concrete weights and can move in the breeze.
“If it rains, it’s not a problem, and they can withstand a 40mph gust of wind without them moving too far,” Mr Messam added.
Fairhaven Bubbles is on view until 29 July.
It is a part of Revealed, a cultural programme also featuring sound artist Alan Dunn and the Lancashire Sinfonietta Brass Quintet.
