JOE WICKS: HOW TO WATCH PE LESSONS DURING LOCKDOWN

J

Joe Wicks is relaunching his live “PE lessons” on Monday morning as the UK enters the second week of another national lockdown.

The fitness coach and author, also known as The Body Coach, first created the weekly online exercise sessions in March when the UK went into lockdown for the first time as a way of keeping children fit while schools were closed.

The workouts were hugely popular, with one having helped Wicks achieve a Guinness World Record as nearly a million people tuned in live to watch.

Wicks also used the popularity of classes as an opportunity to raise money for the NHS, with £580,000 donated through his online workouts.

In October, the 34-year-old was made an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

Now, Wicks is back with his virtual workout sessions, given that all primary and secondary schools and colleges in England have closed for most pupils. Here’s everything you need to know.

When does ‘PE with Joe’ start again?

The online PE lessons launch at 9am on Monday 11 January.

Wicks will host classes three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“They will be 20 minutes long and designed for children,” said Wicks in an Instagram post announcing the classes would be returning.

“Please please share this with as many families as you can and let your schools know so they can notify the parents ASAP and we can get as many young children taking part.

“This is so important for our children’s emotional and mental health.”

How do you take part in ‘PE with Joe’?

All you have to do in order to participate in the online workouts is to head to Joe Wicks’ YouTube page, The Body Coach TV, at 9am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
