Oliver “The Atomic Bull” McCall (born April 21, 1965) is an American professional heavyweight boxer best known for defeating Lennox Lewis in a shock knockout victory in London, England in 1994 to capture the WBC heavyweight championship. He retained his championship against Larry Holmes before losing it at Wembley Stadium to fellow Briton, Frank Bruno, in 1995. During his 1997 rematch with Lewis, he suffered a notorious in-ring breakdown.
McCall began his professional career as a sparring partner for a peak Mike Tyson, then came into his own as a professional, defeating Lennox Lewis, Larry Holmes, Bruce Seldon, Jesse Ferguson, Francesco Damiani, Oleg Maskaev, Henry Akinwande, Przemyslaw Saleta, Sinan Samil Sam, and Fres Oquendo in a long rollercoaster career blighted by drug addiction and almost constant legal troubles. McCall has never been knocked down as an amateur, professional, or during sparring, according to his own admission. At the age of 49, he is still working as a professional.
