Radio 1Xtra Stories: The Story Of Naughty Boy

R

From Deal Or No Deal to No.1 selling producer and artist, this is the story of how the son of Pakistani immigrants, Shahid Khan, AKA Naughty Boy, became one of the UK’s most sought after producers.

Naughty Boy’s story is both inspirational and intriguing. Whilst working as a pizza delivery boy and making beats for up-and-coming MCs, Naughty Boy applied for a grant to the Princes Trust and to be a contestant in the game show Deal Or No Deal. He was granted £5,000 from the Princes Trust and he won £44,000 on Deal Or No Deal. Naughty used this money to set up his recording studio and record label.

After meeting Emeli Sande at a BBC Radio 1Xtra event, the two formed a strong working relationship and started writing songs for the likes of Wiley and Chipmunk. The couple then worked together on Emeli’s own album, ‘Our Version Of Events’, which became the biggest selling record in the UK in 2012. Naughty has since worked with Rihanna, Professor Green, Cheryl Cole, Sam Smith and Wretch 32, to name but a few.

The Story Of Naughty Boy features exclusive interviews from some of today’s hottest UK stars – Emeli Sande, Professor Green, James Arthur, George The Poet, Sam Smith, Bashy, Wretch 32, Tinie Tempah and Chipmunk. Hear how Naughty overcame challenges to reach the top in the music industry and find out how a dream can become a reality. After all, every reality starts with a dream.
