TICK TOCK What time do the clocks go forward in 2022?

T

AS we head into British Summer Time, it is important to know what time you will need to change your clocks.

We might be getting one hour less of sleep but at least we will be able to enjoy our time with more daylight.

What time do the clocks go forward in 2022?

Our clocks go forward every year in the UK on the last Sunday in March.

This means that the clocks will change on March 27, 2022, by going forward one hour at 1am marking the start of British Summer Time (BST).

This means that Brits may be a little groggy on March 28, as we lose an hour sleep when the clocks change in spring.

During BST, Brits get an hour more daylight in the evening than if the country had remained on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

This evenings get longer as we head towards the longest day on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

When the clocks go back later in the year, we revert to GMT, with an hour more daylight in the morning.

The tradition of changing clock times is observed twice a year in the UK.

Will my phone update automatically when clocks go forward?

For those who use an iPhone, your clocks should reflect the change in time if you have your date and time settings to change automatically.

So, iPhone users shouldn’t need to worry about missing their alarms on Monday, March 30, 2022.

For all other smartphones, its down to the network operators to change the time, again if you have the automatic updates already set up.

However, if you’re still using a regular keypad mobile it’s worth checking your settings for your date and time manually.

When in doubt, you should always check your settings, or change the time yourself by going into your phones date and time settings.

When will the clocks go back in 2022?

It’s a little while away before the clocks change back in 2022.

As with the change in time for BST, the clocks go back on the last Sunday of the month.

In 2022, they will go back an hour on Sunday, October 25.

This means that Brits will be able to regain that lost hour of sleep from March, but it also means darker mornings and evenings, as winter is just around the corner.

There’s even a handy phrase to remember which helps avoid confusion – “spring forwards, fall back”.
