Tottenham have condemned Giovani Lo Celso, Erik Lamela and Sergio Reguilon after the trio got together with their families over Christmas, breaking UK lockdown rules.
Argentinian midfielder Lo Celso posted an image on social media of the players celebrating Christmas. West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini was also pictured with the large group.
Most of the south-east was under Tier 4 restrictions over Christmas, meaning households were not allowed to mix unless they formed part of an existing social bubble.
Tottenham said: “We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image showing some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas…the matter will be dealt with internally.”
Reguilon was named on the bench for Spurs’ match on Saturday against Leeds United, but Lo Celso and the injured Lamela were not involved.
This is not the first time Spurs’ players have broken lockdown rules as there were several incidents during the first lockdown in the spring.
Jose Mourinho was seen holding a personal training session with Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Davinson Sanchez were seen out running together, while Serge Aurier was a repeat offender, having a haircut and a personal training session with Moussa Sissoko.
