Zahid Majeed of Luton was apprehended following an investigation into unsolved rapes – and cops suspect he may have further victims, as he went on to become a licensed taxi driver in the town.

Zahid was convicted of rape and kidnapping after a three-day trial at Luton Crown Court and sentenced to 13 years in jail for rape and three years in prison for abduction, both to run consecutively.

Who Is Zahid Majeed From Luton, Is He Arrested?

Zahid Majeed of Wardown Close, Luton, was found guilty after a three-day trial at Luton Crown Court of kidnapping and raping a lady 28 years ago.

Despite nearly three decades, Zahid Majeed, who now works as a licensed cab driver, was ultimately apprehended when his DNA was linked to the crime.

Majeed acted as a taxi driver in the early hours of November 13, 1993, when the woman exited the town’s Coliseum nightclub and joined his car.

Majeed said he was unclear of the direction she had given him and pulled over to check a map, which made her suspicious.

He started driving away again, but after a short time, he pulled over to the side of the road and switched off the lights before being violent and hostile against her.

Zahid then drove them off Hitchin Road to an isolated spot where he raped her.

Although there was insufficient evidence to link Majeed to the crime, DNA was kept on file if a match could be made in the future.

Majeed of Wardown Close was tracked down almost 30 years later as part of Operation Painter, a study of undetected rapes and sexual offenses between 1974 and 1999.

Majeed was arrested and charged after the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Cold Case Unit restarted the investigation and obtained new statements from the victim and witnesses.

After the hearing on Thursday, December 23, Detective Constable Hayley Dyas stated that: “Majeed was sentenced to 13 years in prison for rape and three years in prison for kidnapping, all of which will run concurrently.”

Zahid Majeed Age: How Old Is He?

Zahid Majeed is 54 years old.

Majeed, who pretended to be a cab driver to abduct and rape a lady nearly 30 years ago, was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Zahid lived in peace for years while his victim experienced the long-term consequences of such a horrible crime.
