Atlas Cloud moves to Newcastle city centre base following new client wins

Tyneside tech firm Atlas Cloud has moved into a new city centre head office after taking on new team members.

The Newcastle company, which specialises in delivering cloud-based IT solutions, has moved into its new hybrid working headquarters in Maybrook House, to reflect the changing needs of its workforce following the pandemic. The firm, which recently made the Northern Tech Awards’ 100 fastest-growing firms for a fourth year running, had been looking for new co-working space fit for the hybrid working era after its existing lease at Generator Studios expired.

CEO Pete Watson settled on Maybrook House on Grainger Street, which is operated by Floe and allows employees to work as they prefer, with office space for employees that work from the office most of the time while also giving room to expand when mostly home-based workers visit. The move comes after the firm said it has added 22% to its recurring revenue since the start of the year, which has led to it taking on four new members of staff in the last month, taking the team to 25.

After a number of new client wins, Atlas Cloud has appointed Zach Bagnall as a technical team leader, Sajid Asghar as a network and security engineer, while Chris Laidler and Dean Peacock have joined as cloud analysts.

Mr Watson said: “Since our research into hybrid working, we’ve really adapted the business to the hybrid model. The office move is in fact the last piece of the puzzle. We now have colleagues based all over the country, something we never had before the pandemic.

“The new space is perfect for us, I think we will start to see a lot of businesses adopt the approach. We have our own dedicated space for regular office workers and can spill over into the various co-working areas when required, meaning we can continue to get the whole company together at regular intervals.

“Our expansion continues. The cyber security business now offers Government-backed Cyber Essentials accreditations and the managed services business has a new flagship XLA (Experience Level Agreements) service.”
