EE announces massive 5G update for 28 places in the UK

EE is rolling out enhanced superfast 5G speeds to 14 towns and cities across the UK, including London, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool. The mobile network operator is also adding another 14 towns and cities to its 5G network, including Southampton, Kidderminster and Bedford.

EE is rolling out 5G 2100 MHz spectrum on sites that were previously used to provide 3G signals. The upgrade provides an enhanced 5G smartphone experience for customers, ensuring that they get improved indoor coverage, as well as more 5G capacity in busy areas.

Christian Thrane, managing director of consumer marketing at EE, said: “To provide customers with the best smartphone experience, we are continually upgrading and expanding our 5G network. By increasing capacity, our customers will get faster speeds and an even more reliable experience.”

The 14 upgrades will be taking place at the locations below.

  • Manchester
  • Liverpool
  • Bristol
  • Leeds
  • Cardiff
  • Belfast
  • Newport
  • Perth
  • Kilmarnock
  • Eastbourne
  • Scunthorpe
  • Chesterfield
  • Wellingborough

The 14 new locations for its 5G network are:

  • Bradford
  • Kidderminster
  • Peterborough
  • Bedford
  • Luton
  • Southampton
  • Newport
  • Dewsbury
  • Sutton in Ashfield
  • Newcastle-under-Lyme
  • Hemel Hempstead
  • East Kilbride
  • Bridgend
  • Carlisle

The expansion comes after the company launched new Essentials, All Rounder and Full Works pay monthly plans Customers can check indoor and outdoor 5G connectivity in their area by entering their postcode and device into EE’s online Coverage.
