More than 4.3 million of you, from 146 countries, voted and the new Monopoly pieces have now been revealed.

Gone are the days of the thimble, boot and wheelbarrow. In their place are the Tyrannosaurus rex, a penguin and a ‘rubber’ duck.

In 2013, Monopoly’s iconic iron token was usurped by a cat and, last month, Monopoly owner Hasbro announced it was ditching the thimble. It launched the Monopoly Vote website and asked players to vote for which pieces they wanted to see in future versions of the game.

In total, there were 64 contenders, including a winking emoji, a hashtag, a ‘brick-style’ phone, a typewriter, a trumpet, rollerskates, a pair of bunny slippers and a bathtub. The winning pieces were announced on Monopoly’s Twitter handle as well as on the Monopoly Vote website.

The existing pieces, a Scottish Terrier, racecar, top hat, cat and battleship, will remain. In fact, the Scottish Terrier led the contest with 212,476 votes. T.rex was in second place with 207,954, top hat was third on 167,582, the racecar received 165,083 votes, following by the duck on 160,485.

The cat was sixth on 154,165, the penguin took seventh place with 146,661 votes with the battleship taking the final, eighth place with 134,704 votes. The tortoise just missed out.

The least popular piece was the Wellington boot with just 7,239 votes.
