A Tyneside software company has secured a deal with a Japanese port operator.
Wallsend-based Notify Technology has developed a mobile-first software platform allowing clients to deliver improvements to their safety, wellbeing and sustainability culture and compliance. The firm has now extended its global reach after being appointed by Singapore’s Jurong Port (JP) Pte Ltd, a world-class multipurpose port operator serving Singapore’s premier gateway for general and bulk cargo.
The organisation will support JP in the implementation of a “near miss reporting” application, to improve safety for port users and employees. Notify technology is recognised as a leader in the digital management of health and safety across a range of business sectors.
Using its platform, businesses can log accidents and near-miss incidents in seconds, tracking in real time any necessary investigations, while also creating a full audit. The platform can also be up and running within 48 hours of contracts being signed.
The three-year appointment of Notify will enable the JP’s Workplace Safety and Health team (WSH) to log accidents and near-miss incidents on their mobile devices. It allows managers to track outcomes, actions, and trends using real-time dashboard reporting.
Nelson Teo, WSH senior manager for Jurong Port, said: “The app designed by Notify Technology is easy to use and effective in managing near miss reporting. The team at Notify Technology has been responsive and professional. We look forward to working closely with them for the next three years as we embark on our Total-WSH journey to fulfil Jurong Port’s safety philosophy of ‘Think Safe, Work Safe, Home Safe’.
Gareth Cram, chief revenue officer for Notify, said: “It’s our pleasure to be able to welcome Jurong Port to the Notify family and support the continued investment they’re making in their health and safety culture. Our safety tech and people were clearly a great fit for their team and we’re delighted they’ve chosen to join our mission of making a billion workers safer and healthier across the world.”
The deal comes two months after Notify Technology raised £3.1m in new equity to ramp up development of its workplace safety platform. The company, founded five years ago by Duncan Davies and Andy Dumbell, completed the funding round led by Calculus Capital, which invested £1.85m alongside the North East Venture Fund and private investors.
